Lauren Gueswel Working Equitation
Lauren Gueswel is a national level Working Equitation competitor, coach, and clinician, as well as the 2020 President of High Country Working Equitation (HCWE) and 2020 Region 3 Director for the Confederation of Working Equitation. In 2019, she earned the titles of WE United Year-End #1- Level 5 Horse/Rider in the nation and Confederation Level 5 Reserve National Champion.
Lauren believes that Working Equitation provides a sport in which to train (or cross train) your horse to lightness and the higher levels of the training spectrum while keeping things fun and diverse… continuously improving the communication, trust, and relationship between horse and rider. Her techniques have been influenced by various international and US coaches, with a very strong influence from Nuno Matos of Portugal through the Pedro Torres Academy of Working Equitation.
Lauren's techniques apply to all disciplines to help horses find balance, lightness, and self carriage... and she finds that the Working Equitation obstacles are a great way to teach and test the attainment of these attributes.
Lauren is based out of her facility, Salt Creek Ranch, in Mimbres, NM where she hosts Working Equitation events year-round.
In her clinics, Lauren shares her passion for Working Equitation across the country. Her energy and enthusiasm for the sport and the relationship it creates between horse and rider comes through in her teaching style. She’s supportive and encouraging… keeping the focus on the communication, balance, biomechanics, and trust between horse and rider. Whether you are looking for an Intro to Working Equitation clinic to bring WE to your area, or a more advanced clinic for current Working Equitation riders, Lauren will be happy to support your clinic needs.
Lauren has been coaching and training a dedicated group of Working Equitation students and their horses who come from varying backgrounds for the last 5 years. Her students included some of the top-ranked Amateur riders in the country. This group not only trained hard and showed together, they had tremendous fun together… traveling to shows and events across the country; working obstacles and cavaletti; schooling Dressage; working cows; and relaxing on the trail. Lauren is a firm believer in cross-training for horses and riders.
Lauren recently made the move from Colorado to southern New Mexico and will begin sharing the WE training principles with a new region of the country.
